WHITEVILLE, NC (WECT) –

Two men are accused of breaking into two Whiteville businesses and multiple vehicles in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence.

Timothy Ray Davis and Marvin Tyson were questioned by Whiteville police and arrested Sept. 21 after they were spotted near KJs Grocery where several vehicle break-ins had taken place.

Police say the two men admitted to breaking into six cars.

Whiteville police say that further investigation by detectives led to the two men confessing to burglarizing Ashley Electric and Barnes Exxon.

Electronics, knives and a firearm were stolen from Ashley Electric.

Officers say that $2,300 in beer, cigars and cigarettes were taken in the Exxon burglary.

The Whiteville Police Department is asking the victims of auto break-ins or any other burglaries to contact Lt. Andre Jackson at 910-642-5111.
