Weather Timeline: More severe weather possible across Texas this week
HOUSTON — The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center says much of Texas, including portions of the Houston area, have a slight risk of seeing severe weather again early this week.
Areas west, northwest and north of Houston proper have the best chance for strong storms, although all of Southeast Texas will see rain. There are concerns that with grounds becoming saturated and more heavy rain expected later in the week and heading into the weekend, that street flooding could be possible.

WEATHER TIMELINE:
MONDAY – 20% rain chance in Houston area, mostly cloudy. High of 86.
TUESDAY – 70% chance of storms in Houston area, high of 82. The best chance of rain appears to be in the afternoon and evening. Models have backed off the intensity of the rain but are still looking at a widespread event.
WEDNESDAY – 40% chance of scattered storms and rain in Houston area, high of 84. Look for mostly cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid 80s both days. Isolated storms can’t be ruled out but it should not be a widespread, all day event.
THURSDAY – 40% chance of storms and rain in Houston area, high of 84. Severe weather possible. High water spots possible due to saturated ground conditions.
FRIDAY – 70% chance of thunderstorms in Houston area, high of 84. High water spots possible due to saturated ground conditions.
THIS WEEKEND – 60% chance for rain both Saturday and Sunday in Houston area, high of 82. High water spots possible due to saturated ground conditions. Front makes its way into our area. That is going to focus the deep tropical moisture over our area and cause the totals to begin piling up. This coming weekend looks pitiful with widespread on and off again heavy rain. Some areas by the end of the week may have tallied several inches of rain with an outside shot of some deluge totals of more than 6 inches, says Meteorologist Blake Mathews.
