Austin areas impacted by recent flooding reopen
AUSTIN, Texas — Now that flooding has gone down in the area, places previously closed in the Austin area are now reopening.
Barton Springs Pool is set to reopen on Saturday, May 18 at 5 a.m.
Austin Parks and Recreation announced on Friday the post-flooding clean-up and restoration of Barton Springs Pool was completed.
At 5 p.m. on Friday the waterway ban for areas near Red Bud Isle and Tom Miller Dam, reopening these areas to the public.
According to the City of Austin, the Barton Creek Greenbelt reopened on Monday. It was closed due to rainfall and potential flash flooding. The Parks and Recreation Department said the Greenbelt is still muddy and slick, so use caution when you’re on the trails.
Parks and Rec said visitors at the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail should avoid barricaded, closed or flooded areas.
The flooding at Barton Springs Pool began around 7:20 p.m. May 3. The pool will remain closed until cleanup is complete. Deep Eddy Pool will provide morning hours until Barton Springs Pool reopens.

The Parks and Recreation Department will be monitoring certain flood conditions and will update the public as conditions change and facilities are back in order.
