The cell is a remnant of storms that developed west of San Antonio, meteorologist Ethan Williams said.
Initial forecasts were not confident that the storm would last long enough to move into San Antonio.
While hail is not a concern, Williams said the storms are expected to bring heavy rain that may last for up to two hours.
An inch of rain is expected Tuesday, with higher amounts possible in isolated area.
