Hurricane season has ended
NEW ORLEANS — Hurricane season ended on November 30. The 2019 season was a busy one with 18 named storms. Six of those became hurricanes, and three were major hurricanes with Dorian being the strongest as a category 5 that devastated the Bahamas.
The 2020 Atlantic hurricane season starts on June 1.

2019 Hurricane Season
This 2019 hurricane season ends on Saturday, November 30. This season brought 18 named storms, including six hurricanes and three major hurricanes.
The average numbers for an Atlantic season are 12 named storms, six hurricanes and three major hurricanes.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicted 10 to 17 named storms. It said five to nine of them would become hurricanes and two to four of those would become major hurricanes with 111 mph winds or higher.
Colorado State University, which pioneered hurricane season predictions, predicted 14 named storms, seven to become hurricanes and two to hit major status.

IBM’s Weather Company called for 14 named storms, seven hurricanes and three majors. Accuweather called for 12 to 14 named storms, five to seven hurricanes and two to four major storms.
