Live coverage: Tornado warning for Galveston County until 3:15 p.m.

HOUSTON — Galveston County is under a tornado warning until 3:15 p.m. and a severe thunderstorm warning until 3:30 p.m.

Earlier Thursday, several viewers sent photos and video of a possible funnel cloud near Devers in Liberty County and water spouts along the coast.

No damage was reported.

Severe thunderstorms have been popping up east and south of Houston.

The Greater Houston Area could also see scattered showers this afternoon.

“Most of the strong storms should fizzle out by 7 p.m.,” KHOU 11 Meteorologist Erika Lopez said.

After today, rain chances drop dramatically as a ridge of high pressure build back in. This will bring back above average temperatures for the Houston area but also lots of sunshine for the weekend. 

We seem to remain under the influence of this ridge through the start of next week which will keep us pretty dry as well.
