Tropical Storm Marco has officially been upgraded to Hurricane Marco as it continues on a track toward the northwestern Gulf coast.
Tropical Storm Marco was recorded as having maximum sustained winds of 75 mph, making it a Category 1 storm, according to the National Hurricane Center. It is located 300 miles south-southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi river.
It is forecast to continue to move north-northwest as it approaches Louisiana Sunday into Monday. It is expected to make landfall in Louisiana as a hurricane Monday night, the latest NHC update states.
The National Weather Service has issued a hurricane warning in Louisiana from Morgan City to the Mouth of the Pearl River as Tropical Storm Marco approaches, according to the National Hurricane Center’s 4 a.m. update on Sunday.
