Texas Gov. Greg Abbott will provide an update Tuesday on the state’s response to Tropical Storms Marco and Laura.
The news conference, held at an operations center in Austin, is set to begin at 1 p.m.
While Marco left Texas largely untouched, Laura has strengthened into a hurricane as it approaches the Gulf Coast.

“The main point is that we’re going to have a significant hurricane make landfall late Wednesday or early Thursday,” National Hurricane Center Deputy Director Ed Rappaport said Tuesday.
More than 385,000 residents were told to flee Beaumont, Galveston and Port Arthur.
