Houston area grocery stores, restaurants, attractions temporarily close as Hurricane Laura nears

As Hurricane Laura is expected to make landfall on the Gulf Coast as a major hurricane Wednesday night, several Houston-area grocery stores, restaurants and attractions are closing, with plans to reopen as weather permits.
Below is a list of temporary closings, in alphabetical order. The list will continue to be updated throughout the week.
HURRICANE LAURA: The latest on the storm’s impact on Houston
Grocery stores:
- Central Market: Central Market in Highland Village will close early at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, the grocery tweeted. 3815 Westheimer Rd.
- Kroger: The supermarket chain announced on Wednesday that its outpost at 5730 Seawall Blvd. in Galveston will close at 2 p.m., while other Houston- area locations will close at 6 p.m.
- H-E-B: Several H-E-B locales will close early at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, according to a release. On Thursday, the stores will reopen as soon as it’s deemed safe and close at 8 p.m. Locations include Baytown H-E-B. along with Beaumont H-E-B Plus!, Beaumont 6 H-E-B, Lumberton H-E-B, Orange H-E-B, Port Arthur H-E-B, Groves H-E-B, Mid County H-E-B, and Mont Belvieu H-E-B.

- Discovery Green: The downtown public park announced on Tuesday that it will postpone its House of Cards Carnival fundraiser slotted for Thursday as well as the Friday opening of its latest installation, the House of Cards. The events have not yet been rescheduled, according to the release.
- Houston Zoo: Houston Zoo is closed Wednesday and Thursday, it announced on Twitter.
- Memorial Park: Memorial Park will be closed on Thursday, with gates possibly closing as early as 2 p.m. on Wednesday, according to Twitter.
- Moody Gardens: Moody Gardens announced on Tuesday that it has closed due to the mandatory evacuation order from the City of Galveston, with the park’s animals secured in onsite emergency holding areas. A reopening date has not yet been announced.
- Space Center Houston: The official visitor center of NASA Johnson Space Center will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, according to social media. 1601 E NASA Parkway
