Houston area grocery stores, restaurants, attractions temporarily close as Hurricane Laura nears

As Hurricane Laura is expected to make landfall on the Gulf Coast as a major hurricane Wednesday night, several Houston-area grocery stores, restaurants and attractions are closing, with plans to reopen as weather permits.

Below is a list of temporary closings, in alphabetical order. The list will continue to be updated throughout the week.

HURRICANE LAURA: The latest on the storm’s impact on Houston

Grocery stores:

• Central Market: Central Market in Highland Village will close early at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, the grocery tweeted. 3815 Westheimer Rd.
• Kroger: The supermarket chain announced on Wednesday that its outpost at 5730 Seawall Blvd. in Galveston will close at 2 p.m., while other Houston- area locations will close at 6 p.m. 
• H-E-B: Several H-E-B locales will close early at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, according to a release. On Thursday, the stores will reopen as soon as it’s deemed safe and close at 8 p.m. Locations include Baytown H-E-B. along with Beaumont H-E-B Plus!, Beaumont 6 H-E-B, Lumberton H-E-B, Orange H-E-B, Port Arthur H-E-B, Groves H-E-B, Mid County H-E-B, and Mont Belvieu H-E-B.

Restaurants:

• Avondale Food & Wine: The Montrose bistro will close early at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, according to social media. 240 Westheimer Road
• Backstreet Cafe: The River Oaks spot is closed on Wednesday, according to a representative for the restaurant. 1103 S Shepherd Drive
• Bludorn: The Montrose restaurant is closed on Wednesday, according to social media. 807 Taft St.
• Bowl & Barrel: The CityCentre location of Bowl & Barrel is closed on Wednesday, according to a representative for the bowling alley and restaurant. 797 Sorella Court
• Caracol: Caracol in the Galleria area is closed on Wednesday, according to a representative for the restaurant. 2200 Post Oak Blvd.
• Chick’nCone: The fast-casual spot in the Heights will close at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, according to social media. 1919 N Shepherd Drive
• City Acre Brewing: City Acre will be closed on Thursday, according to social media. 3418 Topping St.
• Coltivare: The Heights restaurant will close at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, according to social media. 3320 White Oak Drive
• Common Bond: All locations of the bistro and bakery will close early at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday,  according to social media. Multiple locations.
• Dak & Bop: The Heights restaurant will be closed on Thursday, according to social media. 1805 W 18th St.
• Eunice: The Greenway Plaza restaurant will close Wednesday at 3 p.m., according to social media. 3737 Buffalo Speedway
• Field & Tides: The Heights restaurant will close early after lunch service on Wednesday, according to social media. 705 E 11th St.
• Finn Hall: The downtown food court will be closed on Thursday,  according to social media. 712 Main St.
• FM Kitchen & Bar: The casual joint will close early ay 3 p.m. on Wednesday, according to social media. 1112 Shepherd Drive
• The General Public: The CityCentre location of Bowl & Barrel is closed on Wednesday, according to a representative for the restaurant. 797 Sorella Court
• Hugo’s: Hugo’s in Montrose is closed on Wednesday, according to a representative for the restaurant. 1600 Westheimer Road
• King’s Biergarten & Restaurant: The German & Austrian beer hall in Pearland is closed on Wednesday, according to social media. 1329 E Broadway St.
• King’s BierHaus: The Heights beer hall is closed on Wednesday, according to social media. 2044 E T C Jester Blvd.
• Monkey’s Tail: The Lindale Park is closed on Wednesday, according to a representative for the bar and kitchen. 5802 Fulton St.
• Nobie’s: The Montrose restaurant is closed on Wednesday, according to social media. 2048 Colquitt St.
• Osso & Kristalla: The downtown restaurant is closed on Wednesday, according to social media. 1515 Texas Ave.
• Pappas Bar-B-Q: Seventeen Houston-area Pappas Bar-B-Q locales are closed on Wednesday and Thursday, according to social media. Multiple locations.
• Pappas Bros. Steakhouse: The Galleria location of the upscale steakhouse is closed on Wednesday and Thursday, according to social media. 5839 Westheimer Road
• Pappa’s Burger: Pappa’s Burger in the Galleria area is closed on Wednesday and Thursday, according to social media. 5815 Westheimer Road
• Pappasito’s Cantina: The 16 Houston-area Pappasito’s Cantina locations are closed on Wednesday and Thursday, according to social media. Multiple locations.
• Politan Row: The Rice Village food hall will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, according to social media. 2445 Times Blvd.
• Pondicheri: Pondicheri in River Oaks is closing early at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, according to social media. Takeout orders can still be placed until 7 p.m. 2800 Kirby Drive
• Potente: The downtown restaurant is closed on Wednesday, according to social media. 1515 Texas Ave.
• Ray’s BBQ Shack: Ray’s will close at 4 p.m. on Wednesday and will tentatively remain closed until Friday, according to social media. 3929 Old Spanish Trail
• Relish Restaurant and Bar: The River Oaks spot will close early at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, according to social media. 2810 Westheimer Rd.
• Riel: The Montrose restaurant will close early at 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to social media. Curbside and delivery specials will be available until 5 p.m. 1927 Fairview St.
• Rosie Cannonball: The Montrose restaurant is closed on Wednesday, according to a representative for the restaurant. 1620 Westheimer Road
• The Rustic: Both locations of The Rustic are closed on Wednesday, according to a representative for the restaurant and music venue. 1836 Polk St.; 1121 Uptown Park Blvd.
• Saint Arnold Brewing Company: The brewery and restaurant will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, according to social media. 2000 Lyons
• Shun Japanese Kitchen: The Montrose restaurant is closed on Wednesday, according to social media. 2802 S Shepherd Dr.

• Tiny Boxwoods: The restaurant will close early at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, according to social media.  3614 W Alabama St.
• Underground Hall: The downtown food hall will close at 8 p.m. on Wednesday and remain closed on Thursday, according to social media. 1010 Prairie St.
• Vibrant: Vibrant in Montrose will close early at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, according to social media. 1931 Fairview St.

Attractions

• Discovery Green: The downtown public park announced on Tuesday that it will postpone its House of Cards Carnival fundraiser slotted for Thursday as well as the Friday opening of its latest installation, the House of Cards. The events have not yet been rescheduled, according to the release.
• Houston Zoo: Houston Zoo is closed Wednesday and Thursday, it announced on Twitter.
• Memorial Park: Memorial Park will be closed on Thursday, with gates possibly closing as early as 2 p.m. on Wednesday, according to Twitter.
• Moody Gardens: Moody Gardens announced on Tuesday that it has closed due to the mandatory evacuation order from the City of Galveston, with the park’s animals secured in onsite emergency holding areas. A reopening date has not yet been announced. 
• Space Center Houston: The official visitor center of NASA Johnson Space Center will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, according to social media. 1601 E NASA Parkway
