AUSTIN, Texas — * Tornado watch in effect for the entire KVUE viewing area until 5 AM.
A severe weather threat is on going with scattered strong to severe storms that will be possible through early Thursday morning. Very large hail of up to 4″ size in diameter will be possible along with isolated tornadoes. Some storms could bring heavy rain and strong winds as well. A total of 2 to 4 inches of rain is expected in the Hill Country, but isolated areas could see up to 5″. This is enough to cause localized flooding and possibly even flash flooding. Areas along and east of I-35 could see anywhere from 1 to 3″ of rain.
Forecast models are not entirely in agreement for the weekend. Initial projections were showing a mostly sunny and warm weekend. However, some models have started showing the possibility of rain chances lingering due to a system slowly pushing east. Highs will be a bit cooler behind this next system with lower and mid-80s by Saturday.
