Round Rock tornado cleanup taking place Saturday
Those in need of help can also connect with resources at Dell Diamond United Heritage Center.
ROUND ROCK, Texas — This Saturday, Round Rock is coming together to help cleanup the city after a tornado ripped through on Monday.
There will be two shifts for volunteers on March 26 from 8 to 8:30 a.m. and from 12 to 12:30 p.m. Check in will take place at Dell Technologies Building #3 at 2300 Greenlawn Blvd. or Success High School at 500 Gattis School Road.
Volunteers are asked not to bring pets or children, not to park in neighborhoods, and not to bring trucks, trailers or other equipment.
Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves, safety glasses, close-toed shoes, sun protection and water.
Community members impacted by Monday’s tornadoes will be able to get help with recovery at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
On Thursday, multiple organizations were at the United Heritage Center at Dell Diamond, including the Red Cross, Austin Disaster Relief Network, Catholic Charities and others.
Homeowners will need to bring a photo ID, a current utility bill and a photo of the damage to get help.
It starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, the center will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The ADRN also opened a fund to help area residents with recovery efforts. Funds will support temporary housing, emergency supplies, food and other essentials, according to ADRN. The fund will also help with rebuilding and restoring homes.
The organization is also taking donations to put together care kits for Granger. The kits include toiletries for men, women and children, blankets, pillows and more. Kits put together can be dropped off at Hope Family Thrift Store, 1122 E. 51st St. in Austin.
Meanwhile, Samaritan’s Purse is helping with debris removal and covering damaged roofs while the City of Round Rock is welcoming volunteers to help cleanup efforts.
ADRN is also participating in a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) for tornado survivors at the Williamson County Expo Center next week. The MARC will serve as a “one-stop shop” for those who’ve been impacted by the storms to meet with several agencies and organizations offering emergency services, supplies, and long-term recovery support.
“With so many people in Williamson and Bastrop counties impacted by these devastating tornadoes, we’re grateful for the opportunity to partner with other agencies and give these people the help and support they need,” said ADRN Executive Director Daniel Geraci. “ADRN-trained volunteers will meet with survivors to help meet their urgent needs as well as offer emotional and spiritual care. We’re here to offer hope to those in Jarrell, Elgin, Granger, Taylor and other nearby communities, and let them know they don’t have to go through this crisis alone.”
The MARC will be open the following dates and times:
- Tuesday, March 29, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Wednesday, March 30, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Thursday, March 31, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
To receive aid, homeowners need to bring a photo ID, a current utility bill for their home, and a photo of the damage.
Residents who need help can request assistance through the ADRN Disaster Survivor Hotline at 512-806- 0800. Volunteers stand by to answer the hotline Monday through Friday, 9 am – 6 pm. The Hotline will also operate on special hours this Saturday from 9 am – 6 pm.
