AUSTIN, Texas — *A Flood Watch is in effect from 1 p.m. Monday through 7 a.m. Tuesday due to excessive runoff from the heavy rain that could cause some river flooding, as well as flooding in low crossings and poor urban drainage areas*

While we expect a lull for Sunday night, heavy rain returns for Monday as a monsoonal system, combined with a tropical disturbance bringing rain to the Rio Grande Valley. As a result of this, we could see 2 to 4 inches of rain in several spots, with isolated higher amounts possible in certain pockets. As a result, runoff could cause flooding of low-lying areas, especially those along rivers, as well as near low crossings poor drainage area. Turn around, don’t drown!

But wait, there’s more! Not only will we have beneficial rainfall, but we may not even make it to 90 for Monday through Wednesday, let alone 100. However, we should reach the low to mid-90s to round out the workweek with only minuscule rain chances. So enjoy the rain to start the week while it lasts, but be sure to head inside when you hear thunder.

SUNDAY NIGHT:
Partly cloudy and warm with a 20% chance for showers and storms early in the evening. South wind at 5 to 15 mph with gusts around 20 mph.
LOW: 77

MONDAY:
Mostly cloudy with heavy rain and thunderstorms likely. Flood watch in effect from Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning due to excessive rain that could cause flooding.
HIGH: 90
