AUSTIN, Texas — We’ve arrived to the holiday weekend!

The highest rain chance of the weekend will be Saturday as an upper-level trough and boundary continue to build into Texas. Once again, flooding will be possible with the heaviest storms during the afternoon into the early evening. Temperatures will struggle to reach the mid to upper 80s.

For those going to the Texas season opener…it looks like the highest rain chances will be during the afternoon for tailgaters, but hopefully we start to trend drier during the evening with the kick off set for 7 o’clock. Nonetheless, it’s probably the safest bet to take the poncho along. Expect temperatures for the game to start in the lower 80s and drop into the mid to upper 70s by the end.

Sunday and Labor Day are trending drier with about a 30 percent chance of scattered showers and storms and a potential for minor flooding for isolated areas. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s.

We trend drier by the middle of next week, but could still have some scattered storms around. 7 day rainfall totals will be range from 0.75″ to 2″+ for most of Central Texas.
