Here are the latest updates from the KVUE Storm Team.

AUSTIN, Texas — We’ve almost made it to the end of the workweek!

A clear sky in the morning will gradually see an increase in cloud coverage throughout the day as our next storm system approaches. Afternoon highs will top out near 80 degrees.

The Storm Prediction Center recently upgraded the Hill Country to a “slight” risk for severe weather Thursday night. This risk is associated with the line of storms expected to develop along the cold front we’re tracking.

This front pushes into Central Texas Friday morning and brings a widespread round of rain and storms moving from west to east prior to lunchtime on Friday. A couple of these storms could be strong to severe, with gusty winds and the potential for a spin-up tornado. The timing of these storms could impact your Friday morning commute.

Behind the storms, a gusty northwest wind brings in cooler and drier air for late-day Friday, and this sets us up for a great weekend. The mornings will be chilly in the 40s to low 50s, and the afternoons will be pleasant in the 60s and 70s. The drier air means we’ll continue to monitor elevated fire weather concerns.

It appears Mother Nature will also bring pleasant conditions for Halloween. We expect a mostly sunny sky and a high temperature near 79 on Monday. Comfortable conditions are expected for an evening filled with trick-or-treating.

We could have rain chances back in the forecast by the middle of next week, but we’re still not getting good consistency in our long-range models. As of now, we’re tracking only a 10% chance for isolated showers on Tuesday and Wednesday.

THURSDAY:
Increasing clouds and pleasant. 10% chance of late PM shower. Southeast wind at 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.
HIGH: 80

THURSDAY NIGHT:
Cloudy and warmer. 40% showers overnight. Southeast wind at 5 to 10 mph.
LOW: 61

FRIDAY:
Mostly cloudy and cooler. 90% chance of AM showers and storms. North-northwest wind at 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.
