Nearly three inches of rain fell in San Antonio in less than two hours this week a decade ago.

SAN ANTONIO — While San Antonio received some long-awaited rain on Tuesday, it paled in comparison to what the city saw 10 years ago this week, when nearly three inches were dumped onto the Alamo City in a matter of just hours.

The severe storms on Jan. 24 and Jan. 25, 2012 also spawned three tornadoes and flash flooding across the region, causing havoc on roadways and destruction in some neighborhoods. It led to large cleanup efforts as garages crumpled, trees were uprooted and cars were stranded in high water on the highway.
