Southeast Texas flooding updates: Homes evacuated near Lake Conroe due to high water, Montgomery County OEM says
Heavy swaths of rain fell in Southeast Texas Wednesday, dropping more water on an already-saturated ground.
TEXAS, USA — A series of storms brought waves of rain to Southeast Texas Monday, Tuesday, and into Wednesday adding several inches of rainfall to the communities north and northwest of the Houston metro area.
The storms triggered a series of Severe Thunderstorm Warnings and Flash Flood Warnings.

School closures, early release
Here are some updates:
1:30 p.m. Wednesday
10 people were evacuated from a neighborhood in the area of FM 2854 & Steve Owens Rd. about 4 miles southeast of Lake Conroe, the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management said. Firefighters were going through the subdivision of about 50 to 60 people to see if anyone else wanted to leave. Officials said they are considering opening a shelter for the neighborhood near West Fork San Jacinto River.

12:30 p.m. Wednesday
Emergency crews are working to repair washed out roads in Polk County, northeast of Houston. One of those trouble spots is in Livingston, where a big hole opened up on Crystal Lakes West near Highway 190, which leads to a subdivision.
The American Red Cross is setting up a shelter for residents who can’t get to their homes at the Dunbar Gym at 1103 Dunbar St.
6:30 a.m. Wednesday
Lake Conroe is temporarily closed due to high lake levels, the possibility of submerged objects, floating debris, and other hazards that could pose safety risks, according to the San Jacinto River Authority and Montgomery County Constable Precinct 1.

The Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management has reported several road closures due to high water Wednesday morning.
1:50 a.m. Wednesday
Rain totals just before 2 a.m. indicate that Brenham has received 9 inches of rain in the past 12 hours compared to a few tenths of an inch inside the city. The area remains under a Flash Flood Warning this morning.
