List: Some Southeast Texas schools announce closures in anticipation of Tropical Storm Beryl

Some schools in Southeast Texas are taking action ahead of Tropical Storm Beryl making landfall along the coast.
HOUSTON — As Tropical Storm Beryl approaches the Texas coast and is expected to strengthen into a hurricane, some schools are already taking action.
Beryl is expected to make landfall somewhere along the Texas coast early Monday morning as a Cat. 1 storm. The forecast cone extends to include parts of Southeast Texas and Matagorda Bay. The storm is expected to bring several inches of rain to the Greater Houston area.
A Storm Surge Watch has also been issued for much of the Texas coastline.
Alief ISD closure
Alief ISD has decided to close the district on Monday, July 8.
Alvin Community College closure
Alvin Community College has canceled classes for Monday. The school said to check its social media pages and website for updates.
Brazosport College closure
Additionally, Brazosport College in Lake Jackson is canceling all classes and operations Monday. The school said that includes the Bill & Julia May Children’s Center.
“We encourage everyone to take precautions and prepare for the potential heavy winds and rain that may impact our area,” the school said in its announcement of the closure.
Brazosport College said it will post more updates on its website and social media pages.
Cleveland ISD closure
All Cleveland ISD campuses and facilities will be closed on Monday. This includes all summer activities, trainings, workshops and professional development events.
The district said it would inform the community about the plans for Tuesday in the “near future.”
Crosby ISD closure
Crosby ISD has canceled classes, the 21st Century Summer Program and all other summer student activities for Monday.
Dickinson ISD closure
Dickinson ISD is closing the district on Monday. This includes any summer employees on duty as well as all planned student activities, such as Camp Invention and Athletics Strength and Conditioning Camp.
The district said to monitor its website and social media for any weather updates regarding plans for Tuesday.
Hitchcock ISD closure
Hitchcock ISD will be closed on Monday, July 8 because of Beryl. That includes any planned summer camps or practices
Houston Community College
Closed on Monday
Lamar Consolidated ISD
All summer school classes, programs, extracurricular activities, and practices scheduled for Monday, July 8, and Tuesday, July 9 are canceled. The Brazos Crossing Administration Building and all district campuses and facilities will be closed on these dates, all staff will be off.
San Jacinto Community College closure
San Jacinto College has canceled classes, operations, and activities for Monday. The closure will begin Sunday at 7 p.m. The school said an update on Tuesday will be sent on Monday afternoon.
Tomball ISD closure
Tomball ISD will be closed on Monday, July 8. The closure includes all schools and facilities, summer school, camps, and activities.
UHV Victoria closure
Friday afternoon, the University of Houston’s Victoria campus announced it had canceled classes Monday in anticipation of the storm.
Waller ISD closure
All Waller ISD schools and offices will be closed on Monday. A list of resources is available on the district’s website.
Wharton County Junior College closure
Wharton County Junior College has canceled classes and activities for Monday.
