73-year-old grandmother dies after tree crashes through north Harris Co. home during Hurricane Beryl
Everyone was inside the home when the tragedy occurred. Deputies said they were told the tree fell through the roof of Maria Loredo’s room.
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A 73-year-old woman died after a tree fell into her home on Monday in north Harris County, according to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Precinct Four constable deputies originally reported the woman was 74. Family told KHOU 11 News she was 73.
Pct. 4 said this happened on Rustic Canyon Trail near Anvil Drive.
Family told KHOU 11 News the woman, Maria Loredo, lived at the home with her son, his wife and two grandchildren, ages two and seven.
Everyone was inside the home when the tragedy occurred. Deputies said they were told the tree fell through the roof of Maria Loredo’s room.
“It happened super fast as I was going downstairs to check on my son, that’s when I heard the big crack. My son was screaming ‘grandma’ because he saw me crying and telling my husband ‘go check on your mom.’ And he started freaking out. He was like ‘grandma.’ He said ‘call 911,'” Haley Loredo, the victim’s daughter-in-law said.
