Scattered downpours continue, flash flooding impacts
Stay weather aware for impacts from heavy rain and flash flooding caused by slow-moving storm cells.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Tonight
Heavy rain is ongoing across the Charlotte tonight. The area is experiencing the impact of deep tropical moisture, which is causing downpours from slow-moving storm cells. The impact for flash flooding will likely increase overnight.
Stay weather aware due to excessive rainfall that will have an impact on creeks, streams, and urban area. Added to that – low-lying and poor drainage areas are of most concern from heavy rain events. It’s important to take the flood threat seriously and seek higher ground if you encounter flash flooding. Watch for flood-prone as if you’re getting out early Monday during the pre-dawn hours.
Short-term training and cell mergers may create intense rainfall rates of 2-4 inches in localized areas, increasing the impact of flash floods.
Tomorrow
After a round of showers overnight into Monday morning, expect a damp start to the day. It’s going to be a mild start in the lower 70s then warming up into the mid 80s. Another round of showers and storms are expected Monday afternoon with a low impact of flooding.

- Below average temperatures with daytime highs in the upper 80s.
- Showers and storms will likely occur each afternoon and evening.
- Humidity levels will remain high and maintain muggy conditions.
