SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — Due to the aftermath of Potential Tropical Cyclone #8, which caused unprecedented damage to the Brunswick County Area, the 27th semi-annual “Operation Medicine Cabinet” drug take back event set for October 2nd at Dosher Memorial Hospital has been canceled.

Dosher says the event will be rescheduled for a later date.

“We appreciate that we are a trusted community resource for the disposal of unwanted medications,” said Dosher President and CEO Lynda Stanley. “With the current road conditions, this is not the time to encourage more vehicular traffic to Southport or place additional demands on local law enforcement, who play an integral role in the success of this event. We wish the best for everyone who was in the path of PTC8.”

For questions about where else to drop medication in the local area, call the Dosher office of Community Relations at 910-457-3900 or go to the, “Safe medication disposal” page at Dosher.org.
