HOUSTON — After a victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday, the Houston Texans announced they’ll be donating $1 million to Hurricane Helene relief efforts.
Helene made landfall late Thursday as a Category 4 hurricane on Florida’s Big Bend coast. From there, it quickly moved through Georgia before weakening and hitting the Carolinas and Tennessee. As of Sunday afternoon, the overall death toll was at least 84 people across several states.
In a statement posted on social media, the Texans said their donation will be used to support “immediate and long-term aid” to those impacted by the storm.
“We are committed to supporting those who have been impacted by the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene,” Houston Texans Chair and CEO Cal McNair said in the statement. “Giving back is at the heart of who we are as an organization and we hope our support will help to provide resources to those in need throughout the region.”
After their 24-20 win against the Jaguars, the Texans remain atop the AFC South with a 3-1 record.
