N.C. Aquariums offering reduced admission to people impacted by Hurricane Helene

RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) – North Carolina Aquariums at Fort Fisher, Pine Knoll Shores, and Roanoke Island are offering $5 admission for each visitor in a group of four from Friday, Oct. 18 to Friday, Nov. 15, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to residents of 27 N.C. counties impacted by Hurricane Helene.

Jennette’s Pier is offering complimentary walk-ons for sightseers. The Aquariums are committed to sharing immersive experiences that inspire appreciation and conservation of our aquatic environments.

“Our staff and volunteers hope to share some inspiration with our neighbors who were impacted by Hurricane Helene through our amazing animals and our passion for their care,” said Hap Fatzinger, director, North Carolina Aquariums. “The Aquariums join with the many individuals and communities who are supporting those who are recovering from the devastation caused by the hurricane.”

The impacted counties include Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Clay, Cleveland, Gaston, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Lincoln, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mecklenburg, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yancey Counties and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in the State of North Carolina.

To facilitate an exceptional experience, visitors who qualify for the reduced admission are required to please call within 48 hours of their visit to secure the promotional pricing.

The Aquariums also remind visitors to provide a valid N.C. ID that confirms their zip code and address (one person in the group of four is required to be from the affected area). The $5 admission plus tax is valid only for N.C. residents from the affected counties.
