Walmart commits $2.5 million for California wildfire relief

BENTONVILLE, Ark — Walmart has announced that it is committing $2.5 million to help with relief after wildfires have ravaged parts of Southern California.

A release from the company, alongside Sam’s Club and the Walmart Foundation, said the relief support will include donations of food, water, essential products, and grants.

“Associates, customers and members in the communities we serve are experiencing the devastating impacts of the wildfires in Southern California. Our thoughts are with those affected, and we are acting quickly to help,” the release said.

Walmart said that stores in Southern California have already donated food, water, and gift cards to first responders and shelters trying to help those affected.

Additionally, the company said it’s working with nonprofit organizations and supplies to helps impacted communities with things like free meals.

“Throughout the response, we’ll continue looking for ways to support our associates, customers, members and their families,” the release said.

Walmart said that more information on community support, as well as the status of stores in the area, will be released in the coming days.
