Severe storms, flooding make mess for drivers on the road Sunday

Intense rain, wind and storms made for a mess on the roads on Sunday during a WRAL Weather Alert Day.
Flooded roads caused travel headaches for drivers in Wake County, as several areas of ponding water were spotted on Capital Boulevard near Old Louisburg Road.
Much of the standing water was a result of intense rain during a flash flood warning in Wake County.
The wet roads also made problems for drivers around the Triangle.
Authorities in Cary responded to two different accidents on Sunday. The first collision happened on US-64 and Tryon Road when a Honda Civic crashed into a Toyota Camry.
The impact caused the Camry to lose control, hit the median and crash into a guard rail. No one was seriously injured.
As a result of the crash, a Ford Fusion rear-ended a Toyota Corolla during the stop-and-go traffic on US 1 near Ten-Ten Road.
In Durham, authorities said a car crashed into another vehicle around 12:05 p.m. on I-85 near Mile Marker 178.
No one was injured in either crash, but authorities in both accidents said the main cause was hydroplaning.
While no one was injured in the crashes, two children were killed after a tree fell on top of their home in Transylvania County.
