List: Some Southeast Texas schools announce closures in anticipation of Hurricane Beryl
Some schools in the Greater Houston area will be closed on Monday, July 8, as Hurricane Beryl takes aim at Texas.
HOUSTON — As Hurricane Beryl approaches the Texas coast and is expected to strengthen into a hurricane, some schools are already taking action.
Beryl is expected to make landfall somewhere along the Texas coast early Monday morning as a Cat. 1 storm. The forecast cone extends to include parts of Southeast Texas and Matagorda Bay. The storm is expected to bring several inches of rain to the Greater Houston area.
Alief ISD closure
Alief ISD has decided to close the district on Monday, July 8.
Alvin Community College closure
Alvin Community College has canceled classes for Monday. The school said to check its social media pages and website for updates.
Bethel’s Family Christian Academy closure
Bethel’s Family Christian Academy will be closed on Monday, July 8.
Brazosport College closure
Additionally, Brazosport College in Lake Jackson is canceling all classes and operations Monday. The school said that includes the Bill & Julia May Children’s Center.
“We encourage everyone to take precautions and prepare for the potential heavy winds and rain that may impact our area,” the school said in its announcement of the closure.
Brazosport College said it will post more updates on its website and social media pages.
Cleveland ISD closure
All Cleveland ISD campuses and facilities will be closed on Monday. This includes all summer activities, trainings, workshops and professional development events.
The district said it would inform the community about the plans for Tuesday in the “near future.”
College of the Mainland
College of the Mainland will be closed on Monday, July 8, 2024. All classes and campus operations at all COM locations are canceled at this time.
Crosby ISD closure
Crosby ISD has canceled classes, the 21st Century Summer Program and all other summer student activities for Monday.
Cypress-Fairbanks ISD closure
Cy-Fair ISD campuses and buildings will be closed on Monday, July 8. All summer school classes, camps, staff trainings, and other activities are canceled.
Dickinson ISD closure
Dickinson ISD is closing the district on Monday. This includes any summer employees on duty as well as all planned student activities, such as Camp Invention and Athletics Strength and Conditioning Camp.
The district said to monitor its website and social media for any weather updates regarding plans for Tuesday.
Fort Bend ISD closure
Fort Bend ISD will be closed on Monday, July 8, and Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
Friendswood ISD closure
Friendswood ISD will be closed on Monday.
Galena Park ISD closure
Due to anticipated inclement weather from Tropical Storm Beryl, Galena Park ISD will be closed on Monday, July 8. All campuses, transportation services, and the administration building will be closed. Galveston College closure
Galveston College will be closed on Monday, July 8. All classes, activities and operations for Monday are canceled. The closure includes both the GC main campus, located at 4015 Avenue Q, and the GC Applied Technology Center (ATC), located at 7626 Broadway Street, in Galveston. It is anticipated that GC will re-open on Tuesday, July 9, for regular business hours and the first day of Summer II classes.

In light of Hurricane Beryl, Houston Christian University is closed tomorrow, Monday, July 8. Due to inclement weather, all on-campus classes are canceled and University offices are closed. Online classes will continue as scheduled.

Katy ISD closure
Katy ISD will be closed on Monday. The district expects to reopen on Tuesday.
Lamar Consolidated ISD closure
All summer school classes, programs, extracurricular activities, and practices scheduled for Monday, July 8, and Tuesday, July 9 are canceled. The Brazos Crossing Administration Building and all district campuses and facilities will be closed on these dates, all staff will be off.
La Porte ISD closure
La Porte ISD will be closed, and all district activities will be canceled on Monday, July 8, because of Beryl. We will update you about Tuesday on Monday afternoon.
Lone Star College closure
All Lone Star College properties and operations will be closed and all classes will be canceled Monday, July 8.
Needville ISD closure
Needville ISD will be closed Monday.
Pearland ISD closure
Pearland ISD campuses and administrative offices will be closed on Monday, July 8. The district will keep you updated as they continue to monitor the weather. School activities and business offices will resume on Tuesday, July 9 unless otherwise communicated.
Prairie View A&M University campuses closed
The safety of our students, faculty, and staff is paramount. As a result, all PVAMU campuses are closed on Monday, July 8, due to the inclement weather expected from Tropical Storm Beryl.
Royal ISD closure
Royal ISD will be closed on Monday. The district’s board meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday is still scheduled to take place, weather permitting.
San Jacinto Community College closure
San Jacinto College has canceled classes, operations, and activities for Monday. The closure will begin Sunday at 7 p.m. The school said an update on Tuesday will be sent on Monday afternoon.

Sheldon ISD is closed on Monday.
Spring ISD closure
Spring ISD schools and offices will be closed on Monday.
Spring Branch ISD closure
Spring Branch ISD will be closed on Monday.
Texas City ISD closure
Texas City ISD canceled all work and student activities for Monday, July 8. As conditions are expected to improve by Monday afternoon and evening, their current plan is for employees to return on Tuesday, and student activities to resume on Wednesday.

Tomball ISD closure
Tomball ISD will be closed on Monday, July 8. The closure includes all schools and facilities, summer school, camps, and activities.
UH Clear Lake Closure
The University of Houston-Clear Lake campuses will be closed Monday. The school will give an update on Monday whether they will reopen Tuesday.
UHV Victoria closure
Friday afternoon, the University of Houston’s Victoria campus announced it had canceled classes Monday in anticipation of the storm.
Waller ISD closure

Wharton County Junior College closure
