Forecast: Threat for localized flooding continues on Tuesday

AUSTIN, Texas — A wet weather pattern continues for Central Texas over the next several days. Weather Impact Alerts Days are now in effect through Wednesday due the risk for locally heavy rain and localized flooding.
Through the day on Monday parts of the Hill Country picked up over 2 inches of beneficial rain, meanwhile the day stayed much drier for parts of the Austin metro. Through the rest of Monday evening, the risk for locally heavy rain and minor flooding will continue especially prior to 10 p.m. Afterwards, the overnight will briefly trend drier.
More rain is likely on Tuesday, and this will once again be widespread for much of the KVUE area. Pinpointing the exact timing is tricky, but models indicate that the next round of heavy rain for the Hill Country could develop as early as Tuesday morning. Activity will then spread southeastward through the day. Heavy downpours will create pockets of 1 to 4 inches of rainfall in addition to what has already fallen. The risk for flooding will continue.
The rain chances will begin to trend down starting on Wednesday, but we still have a Weather Impact Alert Day in effect due to lingering flood concerns, especially southeast of Austin.
Although not as widespread as earlier in the week, scattered storms will remain in the forecast through this upcoming weekend. Highs temperatures will be in the upper 80s to low 90s over the next 7 days which is well below average for this time of the year.
