HOUSTON — Nearly three months after a derecho ripped through the Houston area, we learned the storm spawned another tornado.

We already knew about two tornadoes that were confirmed shortly after the May 16 storm. One was in Cypress and another was in Waller County. Both of those tornadoes were EF-1s.

On Tuesday, Aug. 13 — 89 days later — KHOU 11 meteorologist Pat Cavlin said news of a third tornado popped up on the National Weather Service chat. According to the NWS, investigators were looking over the footage, and from that, they were able to confirm there was another tornado that touched down that day. The latest one was in the Bridgeland area of Cypress. The NWS said that one was an EF-1, as well.

The NWS said that the tornado had wind speeds of 110 mph and was on the ground for a little over half a mile.
