Evacuation underway in parts of Mecklenburg County due to flooding
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — There are three areas with active evacuation orders in the Charlotte area on Saturday afternoon, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Office of Emergency Management.
Areas under a mandatory evacuation order include: Riverside Drive, Lake Drive, Riverhaven Drive and parts of Beagle Club Road & Hart Road near Mountain Island Lake.
A voluntary evacuation order was issued for areas near Allison Ferry Road near Mountain Island Lake, Arthur Auten Drive, Drake Cove Road, Neck Rd, Ballypat Lane, Johnson David Road and Latta Springs.
Officials warn all residents who live along the shoreline of Lake Norman, Mountain Island Lake, the Catawba River and Lake Wylie to be aware of rising water levels.
A shelter is open at Tuckaseegee Recreation Center.
