Interstate 35W was closed Tuesday morning as high winds overturned vehicles.

DALLAS — Damage was reported across North Texas on Tuesday morning as severe storms moved through the Metroplex.

Two 18-wheelers were tipped over by the wind on Interstate 35W at FM 1171 and Dale Earnhardt Boulevard, officials said. Traffic was shut down on I-35W while the winds died down and officials worked to get tow trucks on the scene to remove the vehicle.

No injuries were reported as a result of the crashes.

At Plano West High School, a portion of the school’s roof was torn off the building. Coaches found the damage when they arrived at the school Tuesday morning. Debris was also scattered around the school’s parking lot.

Damage to the roof also caused flooding in the school’s sports facilities, delaying practices.

An Irving apartment building was also heavily damaged during the storm, WFAA’s Brittani Moncrease reported. The building’s roof was damaged and one of its walls partially collapsed during the storm. There were no reported injuries, according to officials on the scene.

Nearby, electrical poles and power lines were downed by high winds. Pioneer Drive in Irving was closed at North O’Connor Road due to the downed lines, officials said. Police are asking motorists to avoid the area and DeZavala Middle School will be on a delayed start today as officials work to clean up the damage, officials said.

Police set up a temporary shelter at Georgia Farrow Recreation Center at 530 Davis Drive for anybody needing shelter.

In Parker County, firefighters responded to an RV park on White Settlement Road where several trailers were overturned Tuesday morning. At least one woman was injured in the storm, officials said. She was taken to a hospital and her condition is unknown.

In Dallas, firefighters were dispatched around 6:02 a.m. to a report of roof damage with at least one chimney falling over at an apartment complex located at 18749 Marsh Lane, according to a statement from Dallas Fire Rescue. There have been no reported injuries.
