Hurricane Willa moves several high school football games up to Thursday
With yet another hurricane expected to bring heavy rains to North Carolina, several Triangle high schools have moved Friday football games up a day.
Hurricane Willa, a Category Four hurricane approaching the Gulf of Mexico, is expected to drop up to two inches of rain on the Triangle Friday through Saturday morning.
Six Wake County high school football games have already been moved up to Thursday night. Two games — at Northern Durham and Green Hope — are expected to attempt to weather the storm.
All other area games are, until further notice, still slated for their original Friday night kickoff times.
This is the third time this season a hurricane has disrupted the high school football schedule. Hurricane Florence hit the Triangle in mid-September and Hurricane Michael followed two weeks ago.
