Billy Graham chaplains help with tornado efforts
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) – The Billy Graham Rapid Response team is heading to Alabama to lend a helping hand in the aftermath of the deadly tornadoes that swept across the area on Sunday.
At least 23 people have been confirmed dead and dozens more are injured after tornadoes swept through Alabama and Georgia.
Crisis-trained chaplains are on their way to offer services.
“Our goal is to come alongside them, bringing the hope and comfort of Jesus,”said International director Jack Munday. “Tornadoes are unique in that they will strike with very little notice, changing your whole world in a matter of minutes. The trauma being experienced throughout this area – especially with the families who lost loved ones – is intense and heartbreaking.”
In a Facebook post that Billy Graham’s son Franklin posted, he suggested that the families affected need help in both prayer as well as search and rescue. ““Our hearts go out to those in the path of a series of tornadoes that touched down in Alabama and Georgia.”
The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team was developed by Franklin Graham and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association following the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
