Severe thunderstorms lead to flooding, road closures
AUSTIN, Texas — A fresh round of thunderstorms across Central Texas on Sunday has led to flooding and road closures throughout the Austin area.
The storms also prompted the cancellation of the Cap10K race on Sunday morning.
Dozens of roads and low-water crossings were closed, according to atxfloods.com.
Northbound I-35 was closed just south of U.S. 183 thanks to high water on the road. It has since reopened.
The area is under a flash flood warning until 3 p.m., with up to 3 inches more of rain possible.
The National Weather Service has advised people to remain indoors.
The Lower Colorado River Authority’s Redbud Center in West Austin received more than 1.5 inches of rain in an hour, while nearly an inch of rain was reported in Pflugerville over a 15-minute stretch. An inch of rain fell in Manor.

Widespread power outages have affected the Austin area for a second day in a row.
Saturday brought around 4 inches of rain to the region, increasing the risk of flooding. Hail and damaging winds also ripped through the area.

Quarter-sized hail was reported in San Antonio on Sunday.
A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for several counties on Sunday morning as the storm headed north, including Bexar, Blanco, Comal and Guadalupe counties.
