DRIPPING SPRINGS, Texas — While many are out relaxing at lakes and pools this weekend, that’s not the reality for some people in Dripping Springs as they are still recovering after flash flooding hit their apartment complex three weeks ago.

“I’m forever grateful for the men and woman in the service,” said Garrett Navarro, his Memorial Day weekend plans are not as expected.

Several inches of flash flood water made it’s way inside his home at the Spring Apartment complex three weeks ago.

His livelihood is now in ruins.

“I can’t spend time with my family or anything,” he said, “all the time I spend is working to try to make extra money.”

The family is sacrificing their time to get back to normal.

“My family probably would have been in a tent right now camping somewhere because that’s the only place we can afford to go,” said Navarro, teary-eyed.

There is a lot of work needed at Cindy Bear’s home, she says this holiday weekend has made the process even slower.

“It’s hard to find anybody right now because everyone is gone,” Beard said.

Residents at the Spring Apartment complex continue to be displaced as they urge for help to get back to normal.

“If you want to do service to your community, get out there and do service in your community,” said Navarro, as he stood among the debris inside his home.

“Our men and woman out there are doing service so we can live in a community like this,” he said.

The intense flooding happened on May 3, since then both the Navarro and Bear family have been struggling to find normalcy.
