— Nearly 7 inches of rain fell in Greensboro on Wednesday, and more instances of localized flooding is possible on Thursday.

Storms will move through central North Carolina starting in the afternoon and continuing through the night, WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said.

“There’s plenty of moisture in the atmosphere, so if one of these storms sets up and doesn’t move a whole lot, we could be in for some flooding this afternoon,” Gardner said.

While Greensboro’s rain led to water rescues, other parts of North Carolina didn’t even see measurable rain.

Thursday’s storms also wouldn’t affect all parts of the area.

Areas that do see storms could see gusts of 40 to 60 mph and frequent lightning.

Thursday’s high will be 91 degrees, and Friday’s high drops to 86 degrees.
