Wilmington evacuees head home after leaving to escape Hurricane Dorian

Raleigh, N.C. — A lot of people who evacuated from the Wilmington area in anticipation of Hurricane Dorian are counting their blessings and were returning home Friday after the storm finally exited North Carolina.
At a rest stop just south of Raleigh on Interstate 40, two of them spoke to WRAL News.
Laurie Mulanax brought her mother and her cat, Lemur, and they traveled to Raleigh to stay with Mulanax’s sister.
She said she went through Florence in Wilmington and did not evacuate.
She said it was a terrible experience, and after that, she didn’t want to take any chances with Dorian.
Carson Andrews, a junior at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, said he also decided not to evacuate last year when Hurricane Florence came through his town
He said he had no intention of going through that again so he decided to be better safe than sorry this time around.
