'Enhanced' chance of severe weather, thunderstorms in Houston's forecast
Houstonians should expect severe weather Friday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.
NWS’s Storm Prediction Center gives Houston and several surrounding communities to the north and northeast an “enhanced” chance of severe weather, which is the third of five status rankings for severe weather chances. Skies are expected to be storm-free for the early part of Friday, but conditions will deteriorate as the day goes on, meteorologists say.

In the afternoon, experts say Houston would likely experience strong to severe thunderstorms throughout the area. Come nightfall, a line of strong thunderstorms is expected to sweep through the area before midnight.
Some of the biggest threats with the storms are damaging winds and hail, with a possible tornado. Heavy rains are expected as well.
