Nueces County awarded $4.6 million for Hurricane Harvey recovery projects

The Texas General Land Office awarded more than $4.6 million to Nueces County for Hurricane Harvey-related recovery projects, county commissioners announced Wednesday.

County officials and staff worked through most of 2019 to apply for Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery funding provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, a news release said.

The county secured funding for the following projects:

• $1.35 million for County Road 67 improvements from FM 665 south by 17,215 square yards.
• $1.27 million for County Road 69 improvements from County Road 48 to County Road 52.
• $974,292 for Bauer Road improvements from County Road 44 to state Highway 44.
• $653,215 for County Road 77 improvements from FM 2826 to County Road 30.
• $385,067 for emergency notification marquee sign at the Fairgrounds.

In the coming weeks, the official grant contracts will be ready for approval in Nueces County Commissioners Court.
