Flash flooding risk for Houston this weekend, meteorologists say

Heavy rainfall this weekend could pose a risk for flash flooding in Houston, according to the National Weather Service.

A storm system will move through the Houston area starting Saturday morning around 7 a.m. and will move across Southeast Texas over the following 24 hours. Communities west of the Houston metro will see the first bouts of rainfall Saturday morning, meteorologists say.

The storms will move east as the day goes on, bringing a likelihood of flash flooding and flooded roadways across the city, meteorologists say. Never drive into a flooded roadway.

A front Sunday morning should clear out the storms by 7 a.m., according to experts.

As for Thursday’s weather, isolated showers could crop up before the evening. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms Friday.

High temperatures are expected to stay in the mid-80s through at least next week.
