Tropical Storm Hanna: Follow live coverage of preparation along Texas Gulf coast
Tropical Storm Hanna is expected to make landfall Saturday, with expected power outages and flooding in the region.
The storm is producing 40 mph winds and expected to produce four to eight inches of rain with isolated totals of 12 inches through Sunday evening in South Texas.
Swells generated by Tropical Storm Hanna are expected to increase and affect much of the Texas and Louisiana coasts during the next few days. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
UPDATES
- All Nueces County and Corpus Christi beaches, the Packery Channel parking lot, the Windward parking lot, McGee Beach and North Beach will close to everyone starting noon Friday through 6:00 a.m. Monday, July 27. The tropical storm is projected to cause higher than normal tides along local beaches and are expected to increase rip current risks, with conditions possibly worsening rapidly with little warning.
- CCRTA is closely monitoring the storm and may have service disruptions or cancellations Saturday, July 25.
- Counties like Kleberg are distributing sandbags ahead of anticipated flooding. It is recommended citizens stay off the roads and at home during periods of heavy rainfall.
- Under the direction of San Patricio Emergency Coordinator Sara Williams, it is recommended that all county residents limit travel beginning late Friday afternoon.
