Next few days of rain, storms could lead to localized flooding
Localized flooding will be possible before the weekend from the heavy rain expected to fall Thursday and Friday.
WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said downpours are more likely Thursday and Friday than they were earlier this week.
Pockets of heavy rain could move into the Triangle by early afternoon and stick around for the evening commute, Gardner said. Make sure you have your umbrella on hand.
On Thursday and Friday, the Triangle will have a low risk for flooding, but northern counties are at a medium risk for flooding. Flood advisories or flash flood warnings will be possible if thunderstorms dump a lot of rain in a short period of time.
There is an even better chance of rain for Friday afternoon and evening.
Gardner said rain in the afternoon will likely be the case for the next several days, and more than 2 inches of rain could fall in the Triangle.
At least the increase in clouds and rain will keep temperatures in check — highs will be in the 80s, not the 90s, every single day of the next seven.
