Bastrop County officials report another wildfire, evacuations lifted

All residences in the area of Park Road 1C and Cottletown Road were asked to evacuate.

BASTROP, Texas — Days after a fire at Bastrop State Park, another wildfire has been reported in the Bastrop County area.

Here are some updates from Bastrop County officials:

At 12:40 p.m., all residences in the Park Road 1C and Cottletown Road area were asked to evacuate immediately.
At 1:05 p.m., officials reported that the fire was moving northward. Roadblocks are being up in place for the safety of responders and evacuees.
As of 1:40 p.m., the “Regen Fire” is approximately seven acres and 0% contained. The Smithville Rec Center is now open as a cooling center for those displaced by this fire.
At 2:30 p.m., the fire was estimated at seven acres and 25% contained. Forward progression was stopped.
At 3:15 p.m., evacuations were lifted.
At 4:35 p.m., the fire was estimated at 25 acres and 75% contained. A bulldozer from Texas A&M Forest Service was on scene widening and improving containment lines. Large vegetation and stump holes were burning within the containment lines. You can expect to see smoke in the area through the evening.

According to the Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management, this fire is not in the same vicinity as the Bastrop State Park fire. However, officials said another grass fire was taking place east of Elgin on Highway 290.

On Friday, crews were also working to extinguish a fire in Horseshoe Bay, south of Kingsland, that broke out on Thursday.
