Tropical Storm Marco makes landfall near mouth of the Mississippi

Tropical Storm Marco was upgraded to Hurricane Marco before eventually downgrading to Tropical Storm status on Sunday night. The storm made landfall near the mouth of the Mississippi River around 6:00 p.m. CDT.
Tropical Storm Marco was recorded as having maximum sustained winds of 40 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center. The storm is expected to move along the coast of Louisiana, producing heavy rain along portions of the north-central Gulf Coast through Monday night.
The National Weather Service has issued a hurricane warning in Louisiana from Morgan City to the Mouth of the Pearl River as Tropical Storm Marco approaches, according to the National Hurricane Center’s 10 p.m. update on Sunday.
