See waves crash and storm surge cause flooding before Tropical Storm Beta makes landfall in Texas

Tropical Storm Beta is set to make landfall along Texas’ central or upper Gulf Coast late Monday night, the National Hurricane Center said. It could drop up to 20 inches of rain to some areas of Texas and Louisiana. (Sept. 21) AP Domestic

As Tropical Storm Beta continues its path toward Texas, several coastal areas have seen high water as a result of storm surge.

A Storm Surge Warning is in effect from Port Aransas to Sabine Pass. Copano Bay, Aransas Bay, San Antonio Bay, Matagorda Bay are communities included under the National Hurricane Center Warning.  Two to four feet of storm surge are possible in those areas and five to 10 inches are possible with isolated totals of up to 15 inches by Friday.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for those same communities but that warning extends further to include Moran City, La.

As of the NHC’s 7 p.m. update, the storm remains 20 miles southeast of Port O’Connor.
