NWS confirms EF-1 tornado struck Texas City during Wednesday's severe weather
TEXAS CITY, Texas — A tornado hit Texas City Wednesday night after severe storms rolled through the area, according to the National Weather Service.
Meteorologists have given the tornado a preliminary rating of EF-1.
After conducting a survey this morning, NWS meteorologists have determined that the storm damage observed in Texas City yesterday evening was due to a tornado. The storm has been given a preliminary rating of EF-1. More information will be provided later today. #houwx #txwx

According to city officials, the Tradewinds Apartments, which is located at 1919 13th Ave N, suffered the worst damage. So much say that the apartment complex is being deemed unlivable.
There was also damage to the Brazos Urethane building on 6th Street North. The road was closed while crews moved debris.
“Due to storm damage, Calvin Vincent Early Childhood and Kohfeldt Elementary will NOT have school today. There will be a delayed start (9 a.m.) for Blocker Middle School, Texas City High School and ITC. School is normal for all others.”
