Harris County and surrounding areas are under a tornado watch.

Harris County has been placed under a tornado watch and is expected to see severe thunderstorms into the evening, the National Weather Service said Friday.

The tornado watch is in effect until 9 p.m. for Harris and surrounding counties, into parts of Louisiana, the weather service said. THere’s a high chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m.

Those conditions could last until 1 a.m. before conditions improve. Saturday is expected to be partly sunny, =gradually moving to sunny, with a high near 83 degress.

Heavy rainfall could lead to street flooding locally, according to the Harris County Office of Emergency Management.
