Forecast: Flash Flood Warnings in effect for Travis, Williamson, Bastrop, Hays and Caldwell counties

AUSTIN, Texas — Showers and storms are pushing through Central Texas tonight with heavy rain being the primary threat. A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Caldwell and Hays counties until 5:30 pm along with another Flash Flood Warning in effect for Parts of Travis and Bastrop counties until 6 pm. The newest Flash Flood Warning now included Williamson County until 7:15 pm. 

A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for much of Central Texas until 7 p.m. Saturday evening. An additional 1 to 3 inches of rainfall is possible with isolated higher amounts possible. This additional rainfall will provide a flooding risk, especially for areas that have already received substantial rainfall over the past few days.

To go along with the threat for flooding, there is also a risk for strong to severe storms for Saturday afternoon and evening. The Storm Prediction Center includes the entire KVUE viewing area in the “marginal” – level 1 of 5 – risk for severe storms. The main threats will be large hail, damaging winds and an isolated tornado. Make sure you have the KVUE app downloaded and a way to receive weather alerts this weekend. 

By Sunday morning, we’ll be left with clouds and a few lingering showers but the afternoon should be completely dry. Monday afternoon will briefly return to the 90s before a cold front moves through on Tuesday.
