Tropical Storm Nicholas heads for Southeast Texas
A tropical wave in the gulf was upgraded to a tropical storm Sunday
The National Weather Service is predicting more rain for San Antonio.
Photos by Jerry Lara / San Antonio Express-NewsA tropical wave in the Gulf of Mexico was upgraded by the National Weather Service to a tropical storm on Sunday, with forecasts expecting it to move northward into the far southeast part of South Central Texas.
Nicholas formed in the Southwest Gulf of Mexico and is expected to move north by Monday night at the latest.
Nicholas is expected to bring 2 to 3 inches of rainfall mainly across the coastal plains and the far southeast part of South Central Texas.
If the storm goes further west, more rain could fall across eastern portions of South Central Texas from Monday to Wednesday.
Nicholas has formed in the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to move northwest and then north by Monday or Monday night.
NWSAlternatively, if the storm stays offshore Texas will see a lower potential for rain.
Thunderstorms due to the storm are forecasted throughout the whole week in San Antonio.
