Texas Farm Bureau creates wildfire relief fund

Nicolas Resille / EyeEm/Getty Images/EyeEmThe Texas Farm Bureau has established the West Texas Wildfire Relief Fund to assist those affected by the over 86,000 acres of wildfires in the state, a March 25 press release from the bureau said. The Texas Farm Bureau said it will only collect and accept monetary donations.
“Although we don’t know the full extent of the damage caused by the fires, we do know the losses will be staggering,” Texas Farm Bureau President Russell Boening said in the release. “Farm Bureau members have always stepped up to help their neighbors in need, and this wildfire relief fund will collect tax-deductible donations to meet the needs in affected areas.”
Credit card payments and checks are acceptable donations for the fund, the release said. The release said other efforts are ongoing to collect donations of hay, feed and fencing supplies.
Farmers and ranchers can apply to receive assistance through the fund for unreimbursed agricultural losses. Applications are due May 31, according to the release.
