CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Severe Weather Update:
Severe storms moved through portions of the WCNC viewing area earlier today. A suspected tornado touched down near the Anson/Stanly county line and the National Weather Service office in Raleigh will survey the damage Friday morning.
Dry weather is in store for the Carolinas Friday with sunny skies and typical late March temperatures. Highs will be in the upper 60s. Winds will be around 5 to 10 mph. Temperatures Friday night will fall into the upper 30s to low 40s.
This Weekend:
Skies will be mostly sunny with afternoon temperatures in the upper 60s Saturday and in the low 70s Sunday. Lows at night should be in the mid 40s.
Drought Monitor:
The latest drought monitor was released on March 31, 2022. There was not much change between either North or South Carolina.
Unfortunately, the eastern half of the Carolinas remains under worse drought conditions. In fact, 4% of North Carolina is under a severe drought for the first time in months.
