Tornado overturns 18-wheeler at North Texas gas station

A cold front that is blowing in mid-week brought severe thunderstorms to the North Texas area. One tornado overturned a semi-truck at a gas station.

Just when we thought we were done with tornado videos. A storm chaser video shows multiple vehicles getting flipped, including an 18-wheeler truck, as a tornado moved through North Texas overnight on Monday, April 4.

Severe thunderstorms ripped through North Texas counties Monday night, producing a tornado in Ellis County that hit the Midlothian area, according to the National Weather Service. A video from storm chasers shared on social media and on YouTube channel called Live Storms Media shows a semi-truck on its side at a Loves Travel Stop at the corner of U.S. highways 287 and 67.

Emergency crews busted the windshield to pull the driver of the semi-truck out of the vehicle with no injuries, Dallas-Fort Worth news station NBC 5 reports.

The video also shows a van on the highway that was overturned by high winds. Dashcam footage shows the storm chasers driving through heavy rain as the driver says, “I need to get out of here.”

Another tornado was confirmed in Alvarado County, just south of Dallas-Fort Worth, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The NWS canceled a tornado watch for the North Texas area that was in effect until 2 a.m. Tuesday, April 5.

Severe storms were anticipated for the San Antonio area Tuesday, but the NWS says the Alamo City can expect it to be sunny and hot before a cold front blows in Wednesday, April 6.

A line of isolated thunderstorms were seen developing south of San Antonio in the Pleasanton area Tuesday morning, according to the NWS. A Red Flag warning is still in effect for the northern parts of the Hill Country as wind gusts are expected to reach as high as 20 mph.
